Michelle Richards-Babb is a Professor and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Chemistry at West Virginia University (WVU). She holds a B.S. from Ursinus College (1986) and a Ph.D. from Lehigh University (1993). Her research focuses on chemical education, particularly improving the freshman chemistry learning experience, undergraduate research initiatives, and STEM outreach programs. She co-leads the NSF-funded REU Site at WVU, providing summer research opportunities in health-related chemistry, catalysis, energy, sustainability, and forensics for undergraduates. Dr. Richards-Babb has been recognized with the 2013/2014 Eberly College Outstanding Teacher Award and has developed innovative teaching methods, including online homework systems and metacognitive reporting strategies.
