Michelle Palmborg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Nursing at Metro State University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Leadership, Transcultural Nursing, and Holistic Nursing from Augsburg University in 2019. Her academic journey includes a Master of Arts in Nursing Science from Augsburg College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Metropolitan State University, an Associate of Science in Nursing from College Of Saint Catherine-Minneapolis, and a Certificate from Minneapolis Community & Technical College.
Her research focuses on cultural humility, dismantling health disparities, and promoting health equity through nursing education. She actively engages in civic initiatives, including co-presenting with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz during the 2020 press conference on frontline healthcare responses to the pandemic.
Dr. Palmborg received the Seed Coalition's Presidents' Award for Civic Engagement Leadership in 2025 and serves on the board of BRIDGE to Nursing, a nonprofit advancing diversity in the nursing field. Her teaching spans courses like Epidemiology and Population Health, Theoretical Foundations for Nursing Practice, and Leadership in Health Care Systems.
