Michele O'Reilly is an Associate Professor of Mental Health Communication at the University of Leicester and a Chartered Psychologist in Health. She also serves as a Research Consultant and Quality Improvement Advisor for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust. Her roles at both organizations began in 2003. She holds dual affiliations within the School of Media, Communication and Sociology and the School of Psychology and Vision Science.
Her research focuses on child and adolescent mental health, including the impact of social media, self-harm, suicidal behavior, neurodevelopmental conditions, and mental health service delivery (e.g., assessments, family therapy). She employs qualitative methodologies, specializing in discursive psychology and conversation analysis. Her work has been featured in media contributions funded by the Wellcome Trust.

Michelle’s professional activities include grant-funded research, supervision of students, and teaching in mental health communication.
