Dr. Michelle Markesteyn serves as the Farm to School Coordinator at Oregon State University's College of Agricultural Sciences within the Department of Crop and Soil Science. She co-hosts the Farm to School Podcast with Rick Sherman, focusing on integrating agricultural education into school systems through podcast episodes, publications, and community partnerships.
Her research interests span school garden development, nutrition education, and sustainable agriculture. Collaborative projects include partnerships with organizations like the National Farm to School Network, Big Green, and Life Lab. She has spearheaded initiatives like the Oregon Harvest for Schools program and the Grow This! Oregon Garden Challenge.
Through Oregon State University Extension, she has produced numerous multimedia educational resources covering topics from school garden food safety to indigenous foodways at Chemawa Indian School.
