Michele Levy is a Professor in the Department of English at Simon Fraser University, specializing in Romantic literary history, print and manuscript culture, and digital humanities. She holds a JD and MA from the University of Toronto and a PhD from UCLA. Her research examines intersections between authorship, family life, and cultural practices in 18th-19th century Britain.
Her major works include Family Authorship and Romantic Print Culture (2008) and Literary Manuscript Culture in Romantic Britain (2020). Recent collaborative projects include co-editing a Cambridge University Press volume on eighteenth-century manuscripts and special journal issues on women's contributions to book history. She directs the Women’s Print History Project, a digital archive documenting women’s literary engagement with books during 1750-1830.
Levy’s publications bridge historical materialism and digital humanities, emphasizing how manuscript practices interacted with print culture to shape literary traditions. Her editorial work highlights marginalized voices in book history through gender and material culture lenses.
