Dr. Michelle Kelly is a Departmental Lecturer in World Literatures in English at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English Language & Literature. Her research focuses on postcolonial and world literatures, with a particular emphasis on 20th/21st-century South African and global Anglophone literary works. She specializes in analyzing prison writing, feminist dialogues in modern literature, and the intersections between legal frameworks and narrative.
Her publications engage deeply with J.M. Coetzee's literary output, exploring themes such as the rule of law in Disgrace, feminist critiques in Elizabeth Costello, and the role of PEN International in supporting imprisoned writers. Her work bridges institutional critiques with postcolonial theory, offering fresh perspectives on marginalized voices in literary history.
Mrs. Kelly holds no listed scientific awards but has contributed significantly to academic discourse through edited volumes and journal articles. She is affiliated with the English Faculty Library and maintains fixed-term staff status within the institution’s college system.
