Mirchele Kaminski is an Associate Professor and Associate Director for Undergraduate Programs in the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University. She holds a PhD in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on labor education, union leadership, workplace safety, and gender dynamics in organizations. She has held leadership roles in labor education, including editorship of the Labor Studies Journal and roles in the United Association for Labor Education (UALE). Her awards include the 2010 Wurf Fellowship and recognition for impactful publications on Right-to-Work legislation and union gender gaps. She teaches courses on organizational leadership, labor law, and employment relations. Her professional service includes roles on the MSU Police Oversight Committee and the College of Social Science’s Curriculum & Academic Policy Committee.
Education: PhD (1993), MA (1988) in Organizational Psychology from University of Michigan; BA (1982) in Psychology and Economics from SUNY Buffalo (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa).
Research expertise spans labor law, collective bargaining, workplace bullying, FMLA compliance, and women’s leadership in unions. She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including seminal works on union effectiveness and gender equity in leadership. Her grants include studies on Right-to-Work impacts (AFL-CIO) and curriculum development for union women’s leadership.
Teaching emphasizes applied organizational leadership, labor relations, and labor law. Non-credit workshops cover collective bargaining, communication skills, and leadership development. She advises on labor education programs and has presented globally at conferences like the International Labour Organization and the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology.
Service includes roles as MSU Faculty Grievance Panel member and leadership in professional associations like UALE. Her work bridges academia and practice, focusing on empowering labor movements through education and policy advocacy.
