Dr. Michelle Holmes is a Senior Lecturer in Workforce Development at Health Sciences University, specializing in curriculum development, healthcare education, and workforce transformation. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Southampton, an MRes in Clinical and Health Research, and a BSc (Hons) in Natural Therapeutics. Her work focuses on enhancing healthcare workforce capacity through training programs and apprenticeships, particularly in musculoskeletal health, chronic pain management, and patient-reported outcomes.
Michelle’s research spans musculoskeletal health, chronic pain, and healthcare service optimization. She has contributed to studies on patient safety in chiropractic education, employment support for individuals with chronic pain, and rural healthcare workforce retention. Her expertise includes health service research, qualitative methodologies, and the integration of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in clinical practice.
She collaborates with the Chiropractic Academy for Research Leadership (CARL) and actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals such as Chiropractic & Manual Therapies and Quality of Life Research. Her work emphasizes bridging research and practice to address national healthcare priorities, including workforce development and advanced clinical training.
Michelle is affiliated with the Centre for Workforce and Systems Innovation at Health Sciences University, where she designs curricula to support healthcare professionals in evolving roles and advanced practices.
