Michelle Chu is an Assistant Professor and McKnight Land-Grant Professor in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Her research bridges hyperbolic geometry, low-dimensional topology, and arithmetic groups, with significant contributions to the understanding of hyperbolic manifolds and character varieties.
Her academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin (2018) under Alan W. Reid, focusing on Bianchi groups, and undergraduate studies at Emory University (2011) where she explored hyperbolic 3-manifolds under Aaron Abrams.
