Dr. Michelle Bartlett serves as Professor of Sports and Exercise Science within the Department of Sports and Exercise Sciences at West Texas A&M University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences, where she has been faculty since 2009. A Certified Mental Performance Consultant and Fellow of the Association of Applied Sport Psychology, her work bridges academic research and practical mental performance training.
Her educational credentials include:
- B.S. in Biology & Psychology from Syracuse University (2003)
- M.S. in Sport & Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University (2006)
- M.A. in Community Counseling from West Virginia University (2009)
- Ph.D. in Sport & Exercise Psychology from West Virginia University (2009)
Dr. Bartlett's research critically examines athlete anger and aggression, sexual assault in sport, and college student wellness, with particular focus on trauma responses and professional supervision frameworks in sport psychology. Her scholarship addresses systemic issues within athletic environments while developing evidence-based mental performance protocols.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Certified Mental Performance Consultant designation
- Fellow status with the Association of Applied Sport Psychology
She founded and directed WTAMU's WellWT faculty/staff wellness program (2013-2018), provides mental performance training to athletes, and supervises future CMPCs while serving on Association for Applied Sport Psychology committees. Her teaching portfolio spans undergraduate Sport Sociology, Exercise Psychology, and Psychology of Injury courses alongside graduate-level Sport Psychology and Sociological Analysis of Sport.
