Dr. Michelle Anagnostou is a Banting Postdoctoral Research Fellow affiliated with the Oxford Martin Programme on the Illegal Wildlife Trade at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on understanding illegal wildlife trade as a form of organized crime, with an emphasis on enhancing equitable, collaborative, and disruptive wildlife law enforcement strategies. She also serves as a Research Consultant and Project Lead with WWF-Hong Kong, developing an AI solution to detect mis-declared wildlife products in maritime supply chains.
Her work addresses adaptive tactics of wildlife traffickers, including innovative money laundering methods. She holds a Banting Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, a prestigious award supporting exceptional early-career researchers. Dr. Anagnostou’s contributions bridge interdisciplinary approaches to combat wildlife crime, combining conservation biology, criminology, and technological innovation.
