Michele Martin is an Associate Professor of Special Education in the Department of Teacher Education at Huntingdon College. She joined the faculty in fall 2016 and contributes to teacher preparation programs with a focus on inclusive and special education practices.
Her educational background includes advanced degrees in Special Education from Auburn University, where she earned her Ph.D., Master of Education, and Post-Master’s Certification in Rehabilitation Leadership and Management. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Auburn and an Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences from John Tyler Community College.
Michele Martin's research and professional interests center on enhancing educational opportunities for students with special needs, particularly in STEM fields and significant disabilities. She has contributed to scholarly literature as a chapter author in publications such as STEM Education: Strategies for Students with Special Needs and Significant Disability, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based inclusive practices.
Michele Martin has been recognized for her academic excellence, receiving the Outstanding Undergraduate Award from Auburn University’s Department of Rehabilitation and Special Education in 2006.
She has extensive experience in teacher supervision and instruction, having served as a graduate teaching assistant, practicum/intern supervisor at Auburn and Walden Universities, and as a resource teacher and department head at Auburn High School prior to entering higher education.
