Michele Davies is a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Monash University's Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through her research. Her work focuses on cellular signaling mechanisms, cilia biology, and microbial pathogenesis.
Research interests include phosphoinositide signaling pathways, cilia structure-function relationships, and the role of cellular processes in diseases like polycystic kidney disease and cancer. Recent studies highlight innovations in superresolution microscopy and crosstalk between bacterial pathogens and host cells.
Current project: 'Cilia biology: an emerging frontier' (2025-2028) as Chief Investigator. Collaborates with experts like Prof. Christopher Mitchell and Dr. Ian Smyth on multi-disciplinary projects.
Publications span cell biology, molecular genetics, and infectious diseases, with impactful work in journals like Developmental Cell and Human Molecular Genetics. Research emphasizes translational applications addressing clinical challenges in kidney disease and cancer biology.
