Michele Biddle

Michele Biddle is a Research Fellow in Public Health at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, within the Department of Health and Social Sciences. With a background in hospital and regulatory pharmacy, she contributes to teaching on the MSc Public Health and Public Health Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship (BSc Public Health) programmes and holds an Associate Fellowship with The Higher Education Academy.

Her educational qualifications include:

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors) (BPharm (Hons))

Michele's research centers on community-based public health interventions, with emphasis on healthy ageing, chronic disease management, and participatory methodologies. Her work integrates:

• Social return on investment analysis in community programmes
• Mixed methods process evaluation of lifestyle interventions
• Patient and Public Involvement frameworks in antimicrobial research
• Community development approaches for health promotion
• Behaviour change strategies for physical activity and diabetes management

Michele leads multiple externally funded evaluations including the Ageing Well programme for BNSSG ICB, Neighbours Connect Southmead using SROI methodology, and the COMBACTE-MAGNET antimicrobial resistance project. Her work consistently involves cross-sector collaboration with local authorities, clinical commissioning groups, and community organizations to translate research into practice. She actively develops participatory research models through partnerships with UWE Bristol's Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing and Science Communication Unit.

Her current projects focus on strengthening community health infrastructure through place-based interventions in Gloucestershire and Bristol, with emerging work on inclusive research methodologies for diverse participant engagement.
