Michele Atkins is Professor of Education at Union University, where she also serves as Associate Provost and Title IX Coordinator. She joined the faculty at Union University in 1998 after serving 9 years in P-12 public education as a teacher and administrator.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D., Ed.S., and M.Ed. from the University of Memphis, and a B.S. from Union University ('89).
Dr. Atkins's research interests focus on several key areas in education:
- Pedagogy and instructional methods
- Assessment of student learning
- Data-informed decision making in educational settings

As an academic advisor, Dr. Atkins has chaired numerous dissertation committees across various educational topics, demonstrating her commitment to mentoring the next generation of educational researchers and practitioners.
She has held significant administrative roles at Union University, currently supervising the institution's SACSCOC accreditation processes, chairing the Institutional Review Board, and overseeing federal reporting of institutional data.
