Michele Anderson

Michele Anderson is a Professor at Southwestern Law School, joining in Fall 2025. She brings over 30 years of experience as a Deputy City Attorney in Los Angeles and 15 years as a special prosecutor handling complex cases including mortgage fraud, domestic violence, and identity theft. A certified Drug Recognition Expert and instructor, she also serves as a temporary judge and holds leadership roles in prominent legal organizations.

Her research and teaching focus on legislative drafting, criminal justice reform, and civic engagement. She has organized educational forums on voter registration, civil rights, and political empowerment, particularly for minority and underserved communities. Her expertise spans legal advocacy, public policy, and community lawyering.

Professor Anderson is actively involved in statewide and local legal organizations, including the California State Bar, John M. Langston Bar Association, Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Board of Trustees. She has co-chaired diversity initiatives and led statewide delegations, emphasizing equity and inclusion in the legal profession.

She earned her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School and holds a lifelong commitment to justice and education, with a personal background shaped by military service and international experiences.
