معرفی
Prof. Michel Kenzelmann is a titular professor at the University of Basel and Head of the Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging (LNS) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland. His research focuses on materials exhibiting strong magnetic fluctuations, including low-dimensional magnets, multiferroics, and unconventional superconductors. He utilizes neutron scattering and thermodynamic methods to study emergent phases and quantum phenomena in these systems. Key roles include leading PSI’s LNS since 2017, and prior leadership of the Laboratory for Scientific Developments and Novel Materials (2008–2017). He holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University (2001), with postdoctoral work at Johns Hopkins University and NIST (USA).
Education:
- D.Phil. in Physics, Oxford University, 2001 (advisor: Prof. Roger Cowley)
Research Interests: Prof. Kenzelmann explores novel phases arising from electronic fluctuations in magnetic materials. His work includes magnetically-induced ferroelectricity in multiferroics, quantum coherence in low-dimensional magnets, and unconventional superconductivity in Kondo lattice systems. His methodologies emphasize neutron scattering to map complex magnetic structures and phase transitions.
Publications Trends: His recent work (2017–2018) highlights advancements in multiferroic domain dynamics, spin liquids in pyrochlore systems, and superconducting instability studies. These articles underscore his focus on coupling neutron scattering with theoretical frameworks to uncover emergent phenomena.
Labs/Teams: Directs the LNS at PSI, a world-leading facility for neutron and muon scattering experiments. Collaborates internationally on projects involving advanced materials characterization.
