Michel Gautier

Michel Gautier is a Professor in microbiology at the Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, where he has been affiliated since 1997. He leads the microbiology laboratory and serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Production, Agrifood, and Nutrition (P3AN). His career spans academic research, industrial collaboration, and expertise in food safety and microbial genetics.

Research Focus: Food microbiology, particularly the study of pathogenic bacteria in egg products, antimicrobial properties of egg white, and hygiene control in agri-food systems. Key areas include molecular biology applied to bacteria, genetic engineering of lactococci, and spore-forming bacteria like Bacillus cereus group.

Expertise & Industry Engagement: Founded the company GeneSystems (acquired by PALL in 2008), evaluates research tax credits for agri-food companies, and contributes to ANSES expert panels on GMOs and bioreisk. His work bridges academic research and industrial applications in microbiology.
