University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centerمعرفی
Dr. Michel Baum is a Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and holds the Sara M. and Charles E. Seay Chair in Pediatric Research. He completed his BS and MD at UCLA, residency at Yale, and nephrology fellowship at UCSF’s Cardiovascular Research Institute. His research focuses on renal tubular development, developmental changes in kidney function, and prenatal programming of hypertension. He has authored over 150 publications and is funded by NIH grants. Key research interests include neonatal nephrology, hereditary tubular transport disorders (e.g., X-linked hypophosphatemia), and the role of the renin-angiotensin system in renal physiology. Dr. Baum is affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics and directs the Michel Baum Lab.
- Education: BS/MD from UCLA, Residency (Yale), Nephrology Fellowship (UCSF).
- Research Themes: Renal development, hypertension programming, tubular transport mechanisms, FGF23 pathways, and pediatric nephrology.
- Affiliations: UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, American Society for Clinical Investigation, Association of American Physicians.
His work explores how prenatal and postnatal factors influence kidney maturation and disease susceptibility. Recent studies investigate the impact of glucocorticoids, metabolic acidosis, and sympathetic nervous system activity on renal function.
