Dr. Michel Abeßer is an Assistant Professor for Eastern European History at the Department of History, University of Freiburg. He holds a Master’s degree in Russian Studies from the European University in St. Petersburg and studied history and sociology at Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena. His research focuses on late Socialist culture, music, youth, organized crime, and the economic and ethnic history of the Russian Empire.
