Michalski Sergiusz

Sergiusz Michalski is a Professor at the Institute of Art History, University of Tübingen, Germany, where he has been employed since 2001. Previously, he held full-time professorships at Nicolas Copernicus University, Torun (1998–2001), and acted as Director of the Institute of Art History at Technical University Braunschweig (1996–2001).

Michalski’s research focuses on the methodology of art history, the role of images, and interdisciplinary intersections such as art and the Reformation, Mannerist art, and political monuments from the 19th and 20th centuries. His work also explores Netherlandish art (16th–17th centuries), French painting (18th century), European town-hall decoration, and animal symbolism in visual culture, particularly spider iconography.
