Dr Michaela Oliver is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Director of Education in the School of Education at Durham University, concurrently serving as Associate Executive Dean for Education and Student Progression in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health. She holds a first-class degree from Durham University, followed by a Primary PGCE and PhD funded by the ESRC. Her expertise includes digital education, literacies, citizenship, and wellbeing, with a focus on curriculum design and pedagogical approaches to foster reasoning in educational settings. She leads two ESRC-funded projects on digital literacies in primary and secondary education and is committed to widening participation through initiatives like the First Generation Scholars Network.
