Michaela Markham Mcsweeney is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Boston University. Her research focuses on metaphysics, philosophy of logic, and epistemology, with a particular emphasis on the epistemology of metaphysics and logic. She also explores intersections with philosophy of science and has recently expanded her work into the philosophy of mental illness, social/political philosophy, and feminist philosophy.
Her research investigates foundational questions in metaphysics and semantic determination, as exemplified by her 2020 publication Debunking Logical Ground. This work challenges assumptions about logical ground by distinguishing metaphysical and semantic determination relations, drawing on formal logic and epistemological frameworks.
Dr. Mcsweeney teaches courses such as Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Sport, Puzzles and Paradoxes, and graduate-level seminars in metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophy of logic.
