Michaela Koch is an Instructor of Education at Clarke University, holding a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Education with endorsements in Special Education, Reading, and English as a Second Language (ESL). She is licensed in Elementary Education (K-6), Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate (K-8), Reading (K-8), and ESL (K-12). Her teaching philosophy centers on empowering students through voice, choice, and growth mindset, utilizing hands-on, problem-based learning approaches.
Before transitioning to higher education, Michaela taught in K-12 public schools in Dubuque, IA, and Kenosha, WI, covering kindergarten, first grade, Title I Reading, and K-5 Interventionist roles. She remains actively engaged in local schools through Clarke’s Professional Development School model and serves on the Academic Advising Committee, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and Instructional Technology Committee.
