Michael Wooldridge is a Professor of Computer Science and Senior Research Fellow at Hertford College, University of Oxford, serving as Head of the Department of Computer Science since 2014. Previously, he held professorial roles at the University of Liverpool and Queen Mary & Westfield College. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, multi-agent systems, and knowledge representation. He earned a BSc (First Class Honors) in Computer Science (1989), a PhD in Computation (1992), and an MA (2014) from the University of Oxford. His work has been recognized through prestigious awards, including the ERC Advanced Grant and ACM Autonomous Agents Research Award. Wooldridge has led major conferences like IJCAI and ICAAMAS and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Artificial Intelligence journal. He has advised numerous students and contributes to foundational AI research through his Turing AI Fellowship.
