Michael Ward is a Professor and Chair of Veterinary Public Health & Food Safety at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Science. He holds a BVSc (Hons 1), MSc, MPVM, and PhD, with expertise in spatial epidemiology, disease spread modeling, and One Health approaches. His research focuses on disease spillover at the wild-domestic animal interface, supported by a 2024 Australian Research Council Laureate Fellowship. Ward has held roles at Purdue University and Texas A&M University before returning to Australia. He advises on veterinary epidemiology for international organizations and has authored over 300 publications. His work bridges veterinary science, public health, and environmental sustainability, addressing challenges like African Swine Fever and avian influenza.
