Michael Walsh serves as a Senior Fellow in the Africa Program at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, Program Director at the Center for African Studies (Howard University), and Senior Adjunct Fellow at Pacific Forum. He holds visiting roles as Researcher at Georgetown University's African Studies Program (School of Foreign Service) and Scholar at UC Berkeley's Center for Middle Eastern Studies. His expertise focuses on advising on democracy, development, humanitarian response, and security issues in Africa and the Middle East.
Walsh has directed the Humanitarian Security Risk Management Course for UNDP staff and contributed to disaster response through Team Rubicon's Security Advisory Group. He lectures on African affairs at the U.S. Foreign Service Institute and frequently comments on regional issues via BBC, Council on Foreign Relations, and Voice of America.
