Professor Michael Vlassopoulos is a Professor of Economics at the University of Southampton. His research focuses on Development Economics, Behavioral Economics, and Public Health Economics, with affiliations to the Applied Economics, Economic Theory and Experimental Economics groups, and the Centre for Behavioural Experimental Action and Research (C-BEAR). He actively supervises multiple PhD students in Economics and is accepting new PhD applicants.
His recent work explores topics such as vaccine hesitancy in Indonesia, mental health during pandemics, remote learning efficacy, and leadership evaluation in firms. His research has been funded by grants from the ESRC, British Academy, and EPSRC. Notable projects include an ESRC-funded study on pro-social behavior and a British Academy project on social comparison effects.
Professor Vlassopoulos collaborates widely, including with researchers at institutions like the University of Southampton Malaysia. His publications span journals such as the American Economic Journal and European Economic Review, emphasizing experimental methods and policy-relevant insights.
