Michael Vastine is a Visiting Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law, where he serves as the Distinguished Visiting Director of Clinical and Experiential Education. Prior to this, he was a tenured Professor of Law at St. Thomas University College of Law from 2004 to 2024, directing the Immigration Clinic and Clinical Education. He is a national leader in clinical legal education and immigration law, with affiliations to the American Association of Law Schools (AALS), Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA), and American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), where he held leadership roles including Chair of the AILA South Florida Chapter.

His publications include analyses of firearm convictions and immigration policy, the Controlled Substances Act’s impact on deportability, and the role of clinical pedagogy in training law students. He has authored numerous amicus curiae briefs for AILA and other organizations, often addressing Supreme Court and appellate litigation.
