Michael Suppa

Dr. Michael Suppa is a researcher at the University of Bremen's Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, associated with the Institute of Artificial Intelligence. He co-founded the DLR spin-off company Roboception GmbH in 2015, serving as CEO and leading business and technology development. His academic career includes roles as coordinator of the 3D Modelling and Vision group and Head of the Perception and Cognition department, managing 45 employees in robotic perception research.

• Education: Dipl.-Ing. (magna cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from University of Hannover (2000); Dr.-Ing. (summa cum laude) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Hannover (2007)

Research interests center on robotics, particularly 3D vision systems, data fusion, and semantic perception for autonomous agents. His work addresses cognitive robotics, object recognition, and resource-efficient perception in complex environments.

He has published over 60 papers and received multiple best paper awards. At the University of Bremen, he teaches the lecture Semantic 3D Perception for Robotic Systems.
