Mag. Michael Steiner is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Teacher Education Wien, affiliated with the Institute of Education and Training (IBS) and the Department for Media Education, Information Technology Education, and Digitality. He leads the bm:bf development project PHinnovativ-KidZ (Classroom of the Future) and coordinates the eBazar project group, focusing on digital skills education and teacher training.
His career began as a computer science and religion teacher at Laaerbergstraße Gymnasium before transitioning to IT roles in education. Since 2013, he has specialized in eLearning coordination and digital competency initiatives. His work includes creating the IKTfit online course (Vienna State University of Social Sciences), leading the eLSA state coordinator role, and contributing to national projects like DigiKomp and eSchools Vienna.
Research interests span eLearning, mobile/blended learning, computational thinking, educational robotics, and cybersecurity literacy. He actively networks with regional/national stakeholders, organizes events like the annual eBazar conference, and collaborates on EU-funded initiatives such as RoboCoop-EU.
