معرفی
Michael Shlipak is a Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), School of Medicine, Department of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of age-related kidney disease, with a particular emphasis on biomarkers for early detection and prognosis. He pioneered the concept of 'preclinical kidney disease' using cystatin C and has contributed extensively to the study of urine biomarkers for kidney injury prediction.
- Education:
- AB, Dartmouth College, 1990
- MD, Harvard Medical School, 1994
- MPH, Harvard School of Public Health, 1995
- Clinical Fellowship & Residency, UCSF School of Medicine
His research interests span nephrology, cardiovascular health, and aging. He leads studies on kidney biomarkers, CKD progression, and the cardiovascular-kidney metabolic (CKM) syndrome framework. His work integrates clinical trials (e.g., SPRINT, CORAL) and large epidemiological cohorts (e.g., CRIC, MESA) to advance diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Key contributions include advancing cystatin C-based GFR estimation and identifying urine biomarkers for early kidney damage. He collaborates with global initiatives like KDIGO and the Chronic Kidney Disease Biomarkers Consortium to improve CKD detection and management.
