Michael Scherer-Lorenzen is a Professor of Geobotany at the Institute of Biology II, Faculty of Biology, Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg. His research focuses on biodiversity-ecosystem function relationships, the ecology of global change, and soundscape ecology.
Research Interests:
- Biodiversity & Ecosystem Functions: Investigating how species diversity influences ecological processes and stability.
- Global Change Ecology: Studying impacts of land-use and climate change on terrestrial ecosystems.
- Soundscape Ecology: Exploring ecoacoustic patterns and their ecological relevance.
Publications: His recent work spans forest biodiversity effects on disease dynamics, climate-soil interactions in litter decomposition, and cross-boundary biodiversity impacts. Key topics include fungal diversity, deadwood ecology, and ecoacoustics.
