Michael Salomone

Dr. Michael D. Salomone is a Professor of International Affairs at Georgia Institute of Technology's Sam Nunn School of International Affairs since 1989. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a background in Lehigh University's International Relations program. His research focuses on military organization analysis, cybersecurity coordination challenges, military transformation, and historical strategic studies such as the Schlieffen Plan failure. He has advised the Department of Defense on net assessment and conducted over 30 years of studies on military decision-making processes.

• Teaches courses on great power relations, technology and military organization, war-gaming, and scenario writing.
• Author/co-author of influential works like Managing Defense Transformation (2007), Technology Transfer and US Security Assistance (1987), and The Reluctant Supplier (1977).
• Recipient of Sigma Xi Fellowship and Inter-University Seminar Fellowship for Armed Forces and Society research.

His current projects include constructing an interactive simulation of the World War I German Schlieffen Plan and analyzing cyber security governance challenges. Dr. Salomone has published in peer-reviewed journals like Journal of Cyber Security and Defense and Security Analysis, focusing on topics ranging from network-centric warfare to arms transfer dynamics.
