Michael S. Rafii is Professor of Clinical Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, serving as Medical Director of the Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) and Associate Director of the Alzheimer’s Clinical Trial Consortium (ACTC). His research focuses on developing treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, particularly the genetic form occurring in people with Down syndrome.
Rafii leads the NIH-funded ACTC-Down Syndrome network conducting international clinical trials and oversees medical safety for ACTC's entire clinical trial portfolio. As Co-Director of ADNI's Clinical Core and Co-PI of ALZ-NET, he contributes to national Alzheimer's research infrastructure. Previously, he directed UC San Diego's Memory Disorders Clinic and founded their Adult Down Syndrome Clinic.
