Michael Rutz

Michael Rutz, Ph.D. serves as Chair & Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He teaches courses spanning diverse historical domains, including Modern Civilization, European history (Medieval to Early Modern periods), and African history from 1652 to the present.

Research Interests: His scholarly focus appears centered on transnational historical narratives, with particular expertise in:

• Medieval European history (Britain to 1485)
• Early Modern British and Irish history (1485–1714)
• Industrialization and British/Irish history (1714–1914)
• Comparative colonial history in African contexts (1800–present)
