Michael Rudolf

Michael Rudolf serves as Academic Director at the Chair of Didactics of German Language and Literature at the University of Würzburg, where he has been working since 2008. He holds the position of Senior Academic Councillor (appointed 2013) and is affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy and the Institute for German Philology.

His research focuses on the intersection of literature education and digital technologies:

• Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in literature and media education
• Virtual Reality applications including VR games and literary VR adaptations
• Game Design and Game Studies with emphasis on ludonarrative storytelling
• Promoting reading through graphic novels, comics, films and computer games
• Digital media for enhancing multimodal text understanding

Dr. Rudolf earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Würzburg in 2006 with a dissertation on language awareness, reading skills and text comprehension. He has been a member of the ADBU (Working Group for German Didactics at Bavarian Universities) since 2001.

He actively participates in academic networks including the G+Media Network and has contributed to conferences on educational media production and German didactics. His office is located in Room 4.U.14 of the Philosophy Building at Am Hubland, Würzburg.
