معرفی
Dr. Michael Roy is a Group Leader at the South Australian Immunogenomics Cancer Institute (SAiGENCI) under the University of Adelaide's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He leads the Molecular & Proximity Discovery (MPD) Laboratory, focusing on structure-guided discovery of inhibitors and targeted protein degraders (e.g., PROTACs) for cancer therapies. His expertise spans medicinal chemistry, structural biology, and biophysics, with a focus on Protein-Protein Interactions (PPIs) in cancer pathways.
Dr. Roy completed his PhD in Medical Biology at the University of Melbourne/WEHI and held postdoctoral roles at the University of Dundee and WEHI. Prior to SAiGENCI, he co-led a major academic-industry collaboration at WEHI to develop novel protein degraders for cancer targets. His research has generated two patents and over $12M in grants/funding.
His work integrates multidisciplinary approaches, including computational design, machine learning, and collaborations with labs like the Ciulli group (Dundee) and the Adelaide Drug Discovery Incubator (ADDI). Key achievements include developing ACBI1/ACBI2 degraders targeting SWI/SNF complex dysregulation in cancers.
Dr. Roy’s lab actively recruits PhD, MPhil, and Honours students to advance drug discovery and combat 'undruggable' cancer targets. He remains affiliated with SAiGENCI and collaborates globally to translate structural insights into therapeutic solutions.
