Dr. Michael Roach is an Associate Professor at Dakota State University's College of Business & Information Systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Organization and Management (Capella University, 2008), an MBA (University of Sioux Falls, 1998), and a BS in Business Administration (University of South Dakota, 1984). His research focuses on guiding entrepreneurs through data-driven customer discovery processes for early-stage startups. He teaches leadership, management, and entrepreneurship, emphasizing real-world career preparation.

- 2023 Knowlten Excellence in Quality Award (co-winner)
- 2020 DeWayne Mork Award of Excellence in Service
- 2014 USD Order of Omega Greek Award for Outstanding Alumnus
- UC Teacher in Excellence nominee (2016)
Grants & Initiatives: Faculty Lead for a $14 million National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grant. Co-founder of the Dakota State University Center for Proactive Management and creator of the annual Entrepreneurs Day event. Active in leadership roles for the University Center Faculty Advisory Group and Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Advisory Board.
Outside academia, he enjoys outdoor activities with his family and dog, Cy.
