Michael Rieken is a lecturer for interactive installation at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK Bremen) since 2001, affiliated with the School of Art and Design and the Free Art study program. A visual artist and musician based in Bremen, Germany, he has been active since 1977.
His primary research and artistic interests include:

Rieken teaches courses on interactive installation, covering Max/MSP/Jitter and Ableton Live software for programming audiovisual and interactive tools, catering to both beginners and advanced users.
He was awarded the Bremen Fine Arts Prize in 1987. His exhibition history spans several decades, with recent solo exhibitions such as "COLLECTED I - III" (2019) at Kunsthalle Weseke and group exhibitions including "WHAT IS TRUE" (2019) at Singen Art Museum.
Since 2018, Rieken has co-managed the Kunsthalle Weseke project with Stefan Demming, an initiative bringing contemporary art to rural areas. His collaborative projects and performances, such as "MURMUR" (2020) with Helena Hartmann, demonstrate his ongoing engagement in the art community.
