Michael R. Solomon is a Professor at the School of Arts and Sciences, University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on Spanish and Latin American cinema, medieval media studies, and early modern medicine, with a particular emphasis on the remediation of medieval culture in film and digital media, as well as participatory movements from the Middle Ages to the present.
His notable publications include Fictions of Well-Being: Sickly Readers and Vernacular Medical Writing in Late Medieval and Early Modern Spain (2010), The Literature of Misogyny in Medieval Spain (1996), and The Mirror of Coitus: A Translation and Edition of the Fifteenth-Century Speculum al foderi. He is currently working on a book about Alfonso the Learned, visual culture, and the paradox of attention.
