Michael Posner is the Director of the Center for Business and Human Rights and the Jerome Kohlberg Professor of Ethics and Finance at NYU Stern School of Business. His career spans academia, government, and advocacy, including a role as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor under President Obama (2009–2013). He previously led Human Rights First for 30 years, shaping U.S. human rights policy. His research focuses on corporate accountability, labor rights, and ethical business practices. Posner authored Conscience Incorporated (2024), which explores aligning profitability with human rights. He holds a JD from UC Berkeley and a BA from the University of Michigan.
