Michael Pippenger

Michael Pippenger serves as Vice President & Associate Provost for Internationalization at the University of Notre Dame since 2016, overseeing global strategy as the chief international officer. He leads Notre Dame Global, managing 195 global staff across 12 international locations including London, Rome, Jerusalem, and others. His leadership secured the 2023 Heiskell Award for the university's support of Ukrainian Catholic University.

• Chairs University Committee on Internationalization and 8 other faculty committees

Academically, he holds a faculty appointment in English Literature with specialties in post-colonial and Victorian studies. His career includes roles at Columbia University (Assistant Vice President), NYU, and the Fulbright Program managing Asian-Pacific scholarships. Educated at Carleton College (B.A. magna cum laude), Indiana University (M.A./Ph.D.), and as a Fulbright Scholar to Australia.
