Michael Perryman is currently affiliated with the University of Heidelberg and the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg since 2010. Previously, he served as a Professor in the Astronomy Department at Leiden University (The Netherlands) from 1993 to 2009 and held positions at the European Space Agency (ESTEC, Noordwijk) from 1980 to 2009. He earned his PhD at the Mullard Radio Astronomy Group, Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge between 1976 and 1979.
His research interests span Astronomy, with a focus on Astrometry, Galaxy structure, Extra-solar planets, and Optical detectors. These areas reflect his contributions to understanding celestial mechanics, extrasolar planetary systems, and detector technology advancements.
