Michael P. Hendrich is a Professor of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University's Mellon College of Science. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois (1988). His research focuses on metalloproteins and enzymes, particularly their catalytic mechanisms and structural dynamics. Using advanced spectroscopic techniques (EPR, ENDOR, Mössbauer), he investigates intermediates in enzymatic reactions and designs biomimetic models to understand oxygen activation, electron transfer, and redox processes. His work includes developing novel instrumentation and computational tools for studying metalloenzymes. Notably, he received the Searle Scholar Award in 1995.

Research interests span bioinorganic chemistry, enzymatic mechanisms, and metalloprotein structure-function relationships.
