Michael Nehring is a Full Professor with tenure in the Department of Theatre at Chapman University's College of Performing Arts, where he has taught since 1982. He served multiple terms as Department Chair and created the Chapman University London Theatre Tour program. Nehring holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from California State University, Fresno and a Master of Science in Theatre from the University of Oregon.
His research and creative expertise spans:
- Acting techniques (Meisner certified)
- Voice and movement training
- Shakespearean performance
- Theatre direction and choreography
- Musical theatre production
Recent creative works include podcast creation, Shakespearean performances, interdisciplinary collaborations, and directing major productions like Thornton Wilder's Our Town (2022) and the musical Cabaret (2018).
