Michael McManus

Michael McManus, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School and a Senior Associate in Critical Care Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital. His research focuses on overcoming access barriers to critical hospital services using large datasets, simulation modeling, and systems analysis. He has addressed issues like ambulance diversion crises and surgical scheduling impacts on ICU access. Current work includes pediatric post-acute care networks and health system impacts on children.

Publications highlight his focus on pediatric inpatient care trends during/after the pandemic, RSV hospitalization patterns, and post-acute care facility capacities. He has held leadership roles including Massachusetts AAP President and Governor’s pediatric advisor during healthcare reform.
