Michael D. McGehee is a Professor and James M & Catherine Patten Chair in Chemical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. He is affiliated with the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI) and the Materials Science and Engineering Program. His research focuses on renewable energy technologies, particularly perovskite solar cells and dynamic windows. McGehee holds a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1999) and an AB from Princeton University (1994).
His research interests include developing high-efficiency, durable perovskite photovoltaics and electrochromic dynamic windows for building energy efficiency. Notable achievements include pioneering work on perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells and reversible metal electrodeposition for smart windows. McGehee has been recognized with awards such as the Materials Research Society Outstanding Young Investigator Award (2007) and the Kosuke Ishii Award (2012).
