Michael McCarthy is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Child Study Center within Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on social and emotional development in families of children with intellectual disabilities, neurotypical siblings' emotional functioning, inclusive higher education, and international early childhood development with a peacebuilding lens. He earned a PhD in Teaching and Curriculum from the University of Rochester, an MA in Global Development and Peace from the University of Bridgeport, and a BA in History from the University of Connecticut. His work spans collaborations with institutions like the Early Childhood Peace Consortium and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.
Research Interests:
Explores how family dynamics impact children with intellectual disabilities, including neurotypical siblings' emotional well-being. Advocates for inclusive education systems and global early childhood development programs addressing conflict zones. Utilizes AI and policy strategies to advance equity in education and disability rights.
