Michael Manville

Michael Manville is a Professor and Chair of Urban Planning at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. His research focuses on transportation policy, land use regulation, and housing affordability, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between these fields. He holds an MA and PhD in Urban Planning from UCLA Luskin, and previously served as Assistant Professor at Cornell University's City and Regional Planning department.

Dr. Manville's work examines topics such as road/parking pricing, determinants of transit use, and the impact of land use policies on housing markets. He has received funding from the John Randolph Haynes Foundation, TransitCenter, and University Transportation Centers. His research has been published in top journals across planning, economics, and urban studies.

His recent articles highlight trends in transportation equity, housing policy contradictions, and the consequences of parking requirements.
